Have you ever had a friend tell you about a great local event they just went to and you had no idea it even existed? We sure have. Here in our beautiful city of Portland, there may be a lot more to do this summer than you realize. Anything from segway tours of downtown & waterfront, to a Sandcastle Contest at the beach, and of course the ever-famous Starlight Parade & Run. We’ve found that events12’s chronological website is the easiest way to find upcoming events. We’ll highlight some of our favorites below, but be sure to check out each month’s list of events: May, June, July, and August.
CityFair & Fireworks
May 24 – June 9, 2019
CityFair has fireworks on opening night (May 24), carnival rides, exhibits, beer, a food fair, and music concerts at Tom McCall Waterfront Park. No pets. (Closed May 28 to 30, and June 3 to 6, 2019.)
Starlight Parade & Run
June 1, 2019
Join 325,000 spectators at the 8:30 p.m. Starlight Parade, or wear a costume and run past them in the 7:45 p.m. Starlight Run 5K that begins at Lincoln High School track.
Festival of Flowers
June 1 – 4, 2019
See a giant design made from 20,000 flowers during Festival of Flowers in Pioneer Courthouse Square, with live music at noon on some days, followed by a flower sale.
Children’s Parade
June 5, 2019
The Junior Parade has 32 bands, mascots like Fred Bear, kids in animal costumes, and decorated bicycles at NE Sandy and 52nd in the Hollywood District. Free.
Beer Week
June 7 – 16, 2019
Bars and breweries host a dozen beer-tasting and food-pairing events during Portland Beer Week.
Car Show
June 8, 2019
See 500 hot rods, classics, collector & custom cars, a burnout contest, vendors, a kids’ zone, and a beer garden with live music at Cruisin’ Sherwood.
Sandcastles at the Beach
June 8, 2019
See dozens of elaborate creations on the Pacific coast at the Sandcastle Contest in Cannon Beach, followed by live music at 7 p.m. and a bonfire at 8 p.m. Free.
Renaissance Fair
June 8-9 and 15-16, 2019
Mingle with medieval knights, jesters, peasants, and artisans at the Oregon Renaissance Faire in Canby.
Zoo Concerts
June 14 – Sept. 7, 2019
Oregon Zoo Summer Concerts feature world-class performers. Your ticket includes a same-day zoo pass.
St. Paul Rodeo
July 2 – 6, 2019
Watch fearless cowboys and cowgirls ride bucking broncos, rope and wrestle steers, and ride bulls at St. Paul Rodeo, which includes a carnival, art show, BBQ (July 4), and nightly fireworks (10:15 p.m.).

Blues Festival
July 4 – 7, 2019
Waterfront Blues Festival features 80 performers on multiple stages, with fireworks on July 4 (10 p.m.) at Tom McCall Waterfront Park.
Beer Festival
July 4 – 7, 2019
Portland Craft Beer Festival [sound in some browsers] features 60 breweries, cideries, and wineries, plus food carts at Fields Neighborhood Park, for age 21+ except Sunday.
Scottish Highland Games
July 20, 2019
Hear Scottish pipes and drums, see athletic games, taste whisky, and join Scottish Highland dancing at Portland Highland Games at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham. No smoking or pets.
Oregon Brewers Festival
July 24 – 27, 2019
Try 80 different craft beers (with cider & wine), eat pub food, and hear live music at Oregon Brewers Festival at Tom McCall Waterfront Park. Children require parents and will enjoy the soda garden. The opening brunchand parade are July 24. No pets.
Bike or Walk the Bridges
August 11, 2019
Bridge Pedal is a 5-mile walk or a 3 to 18 mile ride with stunning views from atop Portland bridges. Register early, and bring a helmet. No dogs or skates.
Oregon State Fair
August 23 – Sept. 2, 2019
See farm animals and craft displays, eat fair food, drink local beer and wine, take carnival rides, and be entertained at the Oregon State Fair in Salem.
